Tony’s Booth
Exhibition booth for an organic farm at EXPO 2010.
For Tony's Farm, PLAYZE designed and realised an installation in the Future Technologies Pavilion at EXPO 2010 that illustrated the concept of organic food production and the natural cycles that make it possible. The artificial landscape conveyed these concepts by having plants growing in it during the exhibition and showing the production process in real time.
The design was based on parametric design, while the production relied on traditional craftsmanship. Over 400 individual components were developed using parametric design software. The production drawings were created in Berlin and sent to China, where the contractor realised the installation using traditional, non-digital production techniques - without the use of CNC machines or other automated processes.
